02Do heat pumps work in New England winters

Cold-climate heat pumps are engineered for exactly this job, delivering useful heat at temperatures far below freezing and keeping homes comfortable through northern winters without fossil backup. The catch is the qualifier: cold-climate models, correctly sized. A builder-grade unit specified for a mild region, or a right unit sized by thumb rule, will struggle on the coldest nights and give the technology an undeserved bad name. 03Ducted or ductless
